About Hotel de Baak Seaside
A place to grow
In September 1957, the building that now houses Hotel de Baak Seaside was purchased by the Centraal Sociaal Werkgevers Verbond (CSWV). They were looking for a dedicated conference centre for courses and meetings—a place where they could host member assemblies and welcome both national and international guests.
Before the purchase, the elegant Hotel Astrid occupied the building, which was later renovated for 2.2 million guilders based on a design by architect A.C. Gathier from Oegstgeest. The transformation included the addition of four conference and meeting rooms, 40 guest rooms, a dining hall for 120 guests, a spacious lounge, office spaces, a recreation room, and a large kitchen.
It wasn’t until June 17th, 1959, that the building was officially reopened under its new name: ‘de Baak’—a regional word meaning beacon or guiding light. Just three months later, the very first training course for commercial professionals began, laying the foundation for the learning environment that became the heart of our hotel.
In recent years, under the name Hotel de Baak Seaside, the hotel has undergone a transformation. Today, it is a warm and inspiring place for business travellers, holidaymakers, and anyone in search of relaxation.
