As you may have heard, the NATO Summit will take place on 24 and 25 June in The Hague, South Holland. Throughout that week – from 23 to 27 June – significant traffic disruptions are expected due to road closures and diversions. Noordwijk is also expected to be especially busy, as the American delegation is scheduled to stay there. This may result in longer travel times to and from Noordwijk, as well as increased security measures. In this blog, you'll find everything you need to know for a pleasant stay at Hotel de Baak Seaside during the summit days.
Travelling
From Sunday 23 June at 5:00 p.m. until Friday 27 June at 5:00 a.m., various access roads to Noordwijk and streets in our immediate surroundings will be closed. As a result, Hotel de Baak Seaside will be less accessible by car throughout that week. Please allow for extra travel time and consult Rijkswaterstaat for the latest traffic updates.
Public transport will also run on adjusted schedules and must give way to approaching and departing delegations. Check the most up-to-date travel information before departure via Qbuzz and plan your journey at 9292.nl.

Accessibility
Despite a small detour, Hotel de Baak Seaside remains accessible. From Oude Zeeweg, you can easily reach the Koningin Astrid Boulevard via Rembrandtweg – that’s where we’re located.
The other access road to the boulevard, Rudolf Tappenbeckweg, will be completely closed throughout this period. This road is located behind Hotel Huis ter Duin, which will serve as the temporary base of the American delegation during the NATO Summit. The area surrounding Huis ter Duin will be designated a high-security zone. You will not be allowed to pass through without accreditation (permission) from the security services present. To be clear: Hotel de Baak Seaside lies outside this restricted area.
Security
Due to the presence of the American delegation, you will notice increased police, military police and other security personnel in town – especially around the town centre, beach and hotels. These areas are also expected to be busier than usual. Extra security checks may be carried out by the authorities mentioned above. Please make sure to carry valid identification with you at all times when outside.
